La Perle Mondiale

La Perle Mondiale

Head is initially large, frothy, off-white, mostly lasting. Body is hazy light amber, bottle conditioned. Aroma is moderately malty (caramel, cookie), lightly yeasty (cobwebs), with notes of honey, Juicy Fruit gum, dried mango, banana, alcohol. Flavor is heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Full body, velvety/creamy texture, soft carbonation, moderately alcoholic. Really nice aroma that reminds me quite a bit of Stille Nacht…very fruity and candyish with lots of layers.

Winery/Brewery Info

Christian Arztner, whose great-grandfather, Pierre Hoffel, founded the Artzner brewery in Schiltigheim (on the outskirts of Strasbourg, Alsace) in 1882, had fun reviving the brand, following years of studying brewing seriously. His venture created happy visions in the imagination of the Strasbourgeous. To cut a long story short, Christian now has the beer brewed in the Black Forest, having been unable find a brewing premises in Alsace. What’s essential, however, is that product is of high quality and the brand has been revived.
