The power of the fruit is matched by the intensity of the oak, but everything coheres and finds balance. The finish is lengthy, with vanilla, black fruits, and some racy red fruits as well. Drink soon or in the next ten or so years.

    The Tinta de Toro varietal is a clone of the Tempranillo varietal, but it has a thicker skin, lower acidity, and deeper blue-black color. Tinta de Toro produces bolder colored red wines compared to Tempranillo, with powerful tannins.

    It has been said that Tempranillo is Spain's answer to Cabernet. Certainly it has the spine for it. It is thick skinned and deep colored. Picos Tempranillo Exhibits the profundity and aromas associated with Cabernet, such as spice, tobacco, olive oil, and herbs. But unlike Cabernet this tempranillo exhibits exuberant fruit. This Tempranillo is grown in Castilla-La Mancha, the "Spanish Meseta" for a vine to flourish here it must have grit, character, and a strong self of self. It certainly shows in this wine.

It shows precision and focus but also conveys the richness, concentration and freshness of this great wine.
