Consisting of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Cabernet Franc, this wine was aged for 17 months in French oak (70% new). According to Phil, this classic Cabernet Sauvignon shows, "....aromas of crushed black fruit, herbs, brown spice, and vanilla, leading to flavors of currant and blackberry." Abundant tannins bring out a firm mouth-feel, and with decanting the ANU Cabernet Sauvignon softens considerably, leading to a silky finish. This wine will get even better with time in bottle.

Highway 12 Proprietary Red Reserve “Highway Man”

    Country: United States
    State: California
    Region: Sonoma County
Well it looks a bit different—but trust us—this vintage is as good or even better than the past five. Highway 12 Proprietary Red Blend shines from start to finish with a nose of dark cherry and bark then hits the front and mid-palate with enormity of blackberry preserves, yet remains austere through the finish by way of cedar-like oak notes and a touch of pencil shaving. Supported by some good tannins, this strong, brooding bottle will handle cellaring with ease. By all means, drink now, but cellaring will only allow you to open it for that special occasion the Highwayman warrants.
