The Chook Shiraz Viognier is sourced from the premium grape growing region of McLaren Vale in South Australia. The seamless integration of Shiraz co-fermented with Viognier, generates a seductive nose of apricots, spice and ripe berries. The palate is smooth and full of rich flavor, perfect for a long lingering finish of delightfully soft Shiraz fruit, but not without the punch. - This non-vintage wine sparkles to the tune of a well balanced blend; predominantly 3-5 year old Shiraz, aged in old French oak barrels showing wonderful smooth integrated fruit and a rich weighty texture across the palate. This is blended with a touch of younger vintage Shiraz bringing ripe juicy fruit characters to the finished product.
- The Shiraz grapes for this wine were harvested from David and Cathy Knight’s estate vineyard in Langhorne Creek. Shiraz from Langhorne Creek generally suits this style of wine well as Shiraz fruit from the region has no problem reaching this level of ripeness and displaying ripe berry characters. Furthermore Langhorne Creek Shiraz characteristically has a soft tannin structure that contributes to mouthfeel and early drinkability.
