Golden in hue it has a nice foamy head, on the nose it is sweet, malty with a hint of grass. On the palate one can taste, malts, yeast, and sweet spices.

Hermann Graf zu Stolberg-Stolberg, a direct ancestor of the owner family, brewed the dark beer first time in 1882. About 100 years later, in 1995, Graf Stolberg Dark was remade based on the original recipe. Michael Rudolph, an author of “Titanic”, mentioned this special dark beer in his book “The Hundred Best Beers in the World”. The Newspaper “Die Welt” referred Graf Stolberg Dunkel to the top 10 best beers in the world. Numerous awards by German Agricultural Society justify the highest quality of this archetypical beer specialty

Zwickelbier is essentially an effervescent form of a Bavarian Kellerbier. Westheimer Wildschütz is the first Zwickelbier that is available in the North America. Zwickelbier is unfiltered and unpasteurized, but the maturation casks (or modern tanks) are bunged or capped ("gespundet" in German) just before the end of fermentation. This furthers the dissolution of carbon dioxide gas in the brew. As a result, Zwickelbier builds up effervescence and has a nice creamy head when poured into a glass.
