This is dark in color, with pushy aromas of wild field, prune and vinegar. Wide, chunky and heavy, it has flavors of black fruit, mint and green herb. It’s full but soft on the finish, with pruny accents.

Leila winery is a part of Bodegas Sucessores de Manuel Piquer, located in Muel, Spain. They produce wine bearing the Carinean D.O Designation. Carinena, The historically dominant town of the region also lends its name to the indigenous varietal (Carignan in France). Bodegas Sucesores de Manuel Piquer was founded by Manuel Piquer Guimera in 1963 and has since been fully modernized. Mr. Piquer has done an excellent job of working within the constraints of this hot, dry climate to limit the yield and control the alcohol. His resulting Garnacha wine is exciting and well-balanced.
