The wine is rich and powerful in the mouth, and gives you a feel of density yet isn’t burdened with excessive alcohol or tannins. The flavors on your palate bring back memories of autumn afternoons in Tuscany, warm, earthy, fine leather, dried herbs, dried flowers, grilling meat. There is no “dab” of Merlot to sweeten up the flavors, just ripe, plumy Sangiovese.
Fanetti Vino Nobile di Montepulciano
Winery/Brewery Info
Vino Nobile di Montepulciano was much appreciated by the poet and wine enthusiast Redi who said of it “Of all the wines it is the king”. The wine was well known in medieval times and was the favorite of the Farnese Pope Paolo III who obtained it direct from Montepulciano to stock his cellars. After many years the wine lost its notoriety and the centuries old production was almost abandoned. It was only at the end of the last century that local farmers recommenced production.
