Saturday Night Tapas: Food & Wine Pairing

Written by  Friday, 10 June 2011 10:34

This past Saturday night I went to friend’s house for dinner club and was amazed that 4 of the 6 wines he was pouring that evening were products from Grapevine.  What was even cooler was that he did not even know the Tenuta Terra Rossa Oltre was one of our wines.

The dinner club was a tapas style food and wine pairing event.  We had Argyle Brut, (delicious) paired with a prosciutto wrapped pear, a very nice food and wine pairing.

We then had Elk Cove Pinot Gris with a zucchini wrapped around cream cheese and a sprig of mint, this was tasty too.

Next came the Tenuta Terra Rossa Oltre with fried Ravioli.  I had never had fried ravioli before, but it paired well with the Italian red blend.

Finally we had the Lolonis Late Harvest Zinfandel 2003 with chocolate fondue, pretty interesting to try a wine that has not been available in the market for years.

All in all it was a great evening with awesome foods and a great surprise to see so many of Grapevine’s wines on the table.
