Bourgogne rouge Vero
Burgundy
France

Vero is a Pinot noir blended with grapes from several parts of France by Domaine Drouhin's Veronique Drouhin-Boss. It is NOT an Oregon wine, and is not from Domaine Drouhin but from parent company Maison Joseph Drouhin.

Vero Pinot Noir is Veronique Drouhin's personal selection of different wines coming from her favorite regions in Burgundy. It can be called the perfect example of a classic Red Burgundy and exemplifies:
- the elegance of Volnay;
- the subtlety of aromas of the Hautes Cotes;

- the seductive red berry flavors of Chorey-les-Beaune or Rully;

- - the charm and structure of Chambolle-Musigny.

Winery Notes/Critics Reviews

Tasting Notes from the winery:

"Pretty red color, with bright ruby tones. Very pleasant bouquet reminiscent of cherry and ripe raspberry, with a peppery note in the background. Good balance with pleasant roundness and freshness; supple and refined tannic structure. On the palate, flavors of wild blackberries and raspberries dominate, with some undertones of licorice. After a little more aeration, there is a round and harmonious sensation as the wine then evolves towards all kinds of delicious red berry flavors."

Founded in 1971, Husch is the oldest winery in the picturesque Anderson Valley. The vineyards are comprised of some of the earliest varietal plantings on the valley floor. In 1968, Tony and Gretchen Husch bought the 60-acre Nunn ranch between Philo and Navarro on Highway 128. The land was well known for growing apples and grains. They soon planted eight acres of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Gewurztraminer grapes on the cool slopes of the property. The plantings sweep down towards the pristine Navarro River. The first official crush was in the fall of 1971.

In 1979, Hugo Oswald Jr. bought the 6,000 case Husch Winery from the Husch family. The Oswald family had been growing pears in the Santa Clara Valley, but when the area was expanding they sold the land and headed for the southern tip of Mendocino County. Today Husch Vineyards remains owned and operated by the 3rd Generation of the Oswald family: Zac Robinson and Amanda Robinson Holstine. Winemaking is under the direction of Brad Holstine. Al White, in charge of all viticulture operations, has been with Husch since 1973. Through the years Husch has modernized and expanded, but it has never lost its initial rustic charm or reputation for great wines.

Founded in 1980, Schug Carneros Estate Winery is the showcase and life-long dream of one of California's most celebrated winemakers. Walter Schug's reputation blossomed during his tenure as Founding Winemaker for Joseph Phelps Vineyards in the 1970s, where he made California’s first proprietary Bordeaux-Style blend (Insignia) and legendary vineyard designated Cabernets (Backus and Eisele Vineyards).

Drawing on his long experience in the production of fine wines in both Europe and California, Walter set up his own winery with his wife Gertrud in the cool, marine climate of the Carneros Appellation. Here he could focus on the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay varietals that had always been close to his heart.
